For maximum enjoyment and approachability the 50 pieces in this collection of music from the Classical period are printed in standard modern notation and in tablature. This was done with players from other areas of guitar music in mind as they can take advantage of either system. Many ‘cross-over’
guitarists will find the information on the origin and specific character of each piece equally useful. The accompanying CD offers further incentives for listening or joining in. The selection spans five centuries of musical styles from simple folkloristic pieces to jewels of the guitar repertoire by composers such as Carulli, Paganini, Sor and Tárrega as well as famous melodies by the great masters Bach, Handel, Vivaldi and Mozart. Stephan Schmidt is renowned for his clear and concise presentation of music for the guitar. His carefully considered approach will motivate pupils to try unfamiliar repertoire.
